These are the Challenges
submitted by fans of Diagnosis Murder. There is no limit to the
number of stories you can write, and no "competition."
So have fun with it! Links to stories written in response to a
particular challenge follow each in turn.
(Note: Though there are challenges for the Alternate Universe
page here, you don't have to stick to those challenges. Alternate
scenes/endings can be from any episode you like.)

c. Jerry is some kind of hot shot who never makes mistakes and
Mark is a little intimidated by him (OK, this might be a great
chance to see Jerry act

happens to mention to Norman that a Bachelor Auction raised lots
of funds for St. Victor's Hospital. Jesse gets dragged into it,
and at the auction he sees all these women from his past, from
Sloan Peterson (high school girlfriend) to Chloe Marsden. An
unknown woman from the crowd bids a high price, and says "If
I can't have you, no one will!" How does Susan compete?

19) One night, a DM fans falls asleep after a
6-episodes-DM-marathon and suddenly finds him/herself in the
Community General. Great thing, (s)he thinks. But then a murder
is committed, and when it comes to solving the case, the whole
crew turns out to have made a complete U-turn: Amanda gets sick
at the sight of blood, Steve doesn't know at which end to hold a
gun... Hey, it's
a dream world, so everything's possible! Change the characters in

her early 20's. I also think that before he finds out he has a
daughter that she starts dating Jesse. i think that it should be
a funny, thought provoking and at times even sad. Why didn't
Steve know about his daughter? What kind of childhood did she
have? Maybe by the time Steve finds out Mark is already close to
her, maybe Steve is too. How does she react to finding out? how
does Jesse handle dating his best friends daughter? How does

New York City for a medical conference. Steve goes alonge, using
the trip as an opportunity to renew acquaintances with an old
friend in the district attorney''s foffice, Joe Maxwell. Of
course, Dr. Sloan and Steve stumble across and incident that

46) Mark befriends a clever, friendly 13 year old girl and her
single mother. When her mother is mysteriously murdered, Mark
invites the girl to stay with him and Steve until she can work
things out. Mark adores her, but she drives Steve crazy! ( Or so
he wants everyone to think.) When she becomes too involved in her
mother's murder investigation something terrible happens! It is
then that Steve shows how much he cares for her and/or how far he
would be willing to go to save her. (Will her stay be temporary

other fandoms that are so well-written and moving. I haven't

Jesse get into a huge fight. She has a slim chance of surviving.
Jesse insists that Steve and Mark find out who did it to her.
They find that the driver who hit her was stalking her, and had
already been charged on many counts of murder. Mark and Steve try
to solve the case and find the driver. Meanwhile, Jesse has to
deal with the fact that Susan may never come out of the coma and

little older or younger came up to him and said that there might

old Daddy.

69) I think a great idea would be for Jack to come back to the
city in trouble, being chased by someone and looking to Mark and
Steve for help. But before they can help him,he gets killed by
the person or people chasing him. Then Mark, Steve and Amanda
have to find the ones responsible, solve the case and deal with
their grief over the lose of their friend. And of course Jessie,
having not known Jack, would feel confused. He would want to

return, but when an accident leaves Mark in a coma, the gang must

Silk Stalkings? You could have one of either casts get killed on
the other's turf and they gangs have to solve it. During the
story you could also have Chris discover feelings for Amanda or
have Rita discover feelings for Steve. How will the others react?
How will Chris react if it is Rita and how will Rita react if it
is Chris? How will this affect the friendship/romance between

You could have Steve in the Santa Monica for a conference that
the doctors go with him to or you could have the Pacific Blue
gang go to Los Angeles for something that Steve has to go to to.
What cwould happen when a person is murdered? Would the two gangs
be rivals and compete against each other to get the crime solved

74) Clinton Bentley, Amanda's
long estranged Uncle, left the USA in the controversial sixties.
He returns to the USA to meet his family. Bentley, a jazz
musician of note in Paris, is also a Korea War hero and
acquaintance of Marks. After the reunion, Clinton is found
holding a gun over the body of a many times decorated police
officer, and idol of Mark's. The apparent murder sets Steve and
Amanda against each other. Can Mark, Jesse, and Amanda clear
Clinton's name before he faces the death penalty and Steve and
Amanda's bond of friendship and trust is forever broken? -- Iona

police or the hospital. Find out how they got there, and a little

89) We already know that Amanda and the Sloan men are like
family, but how, when, and why was that bond forged? Did Mark,
seeing the potential of a long term serious relationship and
beautiful grandchildren, introduce Steve and Amanda, hoping for a
daughter in law, but creating solid friendship instead? Or
perhaps Steve's good friend Jack, who has always liked Amanda,
persuaded Steve to help him snare the leggy new resident
pathologist. More than likely Amanda was involved in a some
complicated crime -- rich young women in detective stories often
are -- and Steve and Jack approached Mark with suspicions about
the sultry young docter's innocence. After all, how often did
Jack and Steve run into gorgeous, clever young women who were
innocents at Community General? Mark seems closer to Amanda than
Carol, we know that he has and will continue to risk his life for
her and vice versa. How happy are Amanda's parents and Steve's
sister with this successful, loving, but dangerous association?
There are many possibilities to explore with this one. We can
take the typical dramatic device and put one of the leads at
death's door giving the leads a chance to emote while examining
their past in flashbacks. Perhaps Mark presents the story of
Mark, Amanda, Steve, Jesse and Jack as a modern bed time fairy
tale for CJ and Dion. I hope my fellow Fanfiction writers will

announced that a man is being released from prison after serving
a five year sentence. The news makes Jesse very angry. Mark,
Steve and Amanda try to find out why Jesse is so upset. What they
don't know is that when Jesse was in medical school he had a
fiance and a five year old daughter! They were killed by the man
